  • What are the fees associated with Assisted Living?
Your choice of room and individualized care plan will ultimately determine your fees. Hibiscus House tailors our service to meet your needs and requirements from the Maryland Department of Health. The state differentiates 3 levels of care. Your level of care is determined by a scoring tool mandated by the state of Maryland and comprises of a thorough assessment from your healthcare provider, our delegating nurse, and the program’s assisted living manager. These assessments are conducted twice per year routinely, or more regularly if a resident has a change in condition. The level of care will be reassessed to match the resident’s needs and the program’s ability to meet those needs. We would welcome the opportunity to talk with you for an initial assessment and discuss your options.

  • What should I look for in an Assisted Living Facility?
Team Engagement: From your first interaction, make sure that each team member is respectful, attentive, and compassionate and that you feel heard. You and your loved ones are part of the care team and should always feel empowered to participate in your care plan. Environment: When visiting, see if the accommodation and common spaces meet your expectations. Look for cleanliness, tranquility, and safety. Visit during mealtimes and sample the food! This is a great way to assess the team’s kindness and engagement, the community around mealtimes, and of course the quality of the food. Investment: There should be a noticeable quality to the program, the environment, and the team. The grounds, internal décor, quality of meals, and team satisfaction should suggest a commitment to investment to provide the best experience for residents. Oversight: There should be clear postings with a current license, fire code compliance, and contact information to the Office of Healthcare Quality and other regulatory agencies. Request to review a policy that is of particular importance to you, for example the visitor policy or smoking policy.
